Thornhill Official Community Plan

Draft OCP Nears Final Draft Completion

Thornhill's Official Community Plan (OCP), when completed, will be the over-arching policy document that serves as a guide for elected officials and administration when making a wide range of decisions. The OCP represents the community's shared 5 to 20 year vision.

Next Steps

A final draft of the Thornhill OCP is close to completion, thank-you to those who participated in OCP Week, through our online survey and latest open house.

The draft OCP has gone to the Thornhill Advisory Planning Commission, various Agencies, First Nations and was available for public comment in June 2017 at our two-day open house event before finalization, legal review and submission to the Regional District Board. There will be a public consultation session during this review period. It is estimated that the Regional District Board will have one or two readings of the Official Community Plan in August 2017. If proceeding, a public hearing will be held after second reading. The public hearing provides further public consultation on the Official Community Plan. Once the public hearing is complete, the Board will determine if the OCP needs to be revised and brought back to the public for an additional hearing or if the OCP can proceed to third reading and adoption. Once the public hearing (and additional hearings, if needed) are complete, further public comment cannot be received on the OCP.

Check back to this page for updates and to view the draft OCP once ready. Find us on Facebook by searching ‘Thornhill OCP’. Regional District Planners are also available via telephone, in person at the Regional District Office or by email between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.

Survey

A community survey was created in order to gain input from residents during the OCP process. The survey has now closed, thank-you for your valuable input!
