Please contact the RD for February Board Meeting Date/Time

Thornhill's Official Community Plan (OCP), when completed, will be the over-arching policy document that serves as a guide for elected officials and administration when making a wide range of decisions. The OCP represents the community's shared 5 to 20 year vision.

Next Steps

The Thornhill OCP has completed legal review, thank-you for your patience. The next step will be to bring the document for first and second reading to the Regional District Board February 2018 regular Board meeting. Please contact the Regional District for meeting time and date. Thank-you to those who participated in OCP Week, through our online survey and latest open house.

The draft OCP has gone to the Thornhill Advisory Planning Commission, various Agencies, First Nations and was available for public comment in June 2017 at our two-day open house event before finalization, legal review and submission to the Regional District Board. It is estimated that the Regional District Board will have one or two readings of the Official Community Plan in Spring 2018. If proceeding, a public hearing will be held after second reading. The public hearing provides further public consultation on the Official Community Plan. Once the public hearing is complete, the Board will determine if the OCP needs to be revised and brought back to the public for an additional hearing or if the OCP can proceed to third reading and adoption. Once the public hearing (and additional hearings, if needed) are complete, further public comment cannot be received on the OCP.

Check back to this page for updates and to view the lastest versions of the draft document. Find us on Facebook by searching ‘Thornhill OCP’. Regional District Planners are also available via telephone, in person at the Regional District Office or by email between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.

A community survey was created in order to gain input from residents during the OCP process. The survey has now closed, thank-you for your valuable input!
