Welcome

Welcome. The Regional District provides local government services to an area of 107,000km² in northwestern British Columbia. Member municipalities are Kitimat, Terrace, Stewart, Hazelton and New Hazelton.

The Regional District administers over 40 "functions" or services including rural land use planning, community water system, fire protection, tranportation system and library services. 

The Regional District employs approximately 30 full and part-time employees in Terrace and Kitimat.

The Ministry of Forests, Lands & Natural Resource Operations is conducting an aquifer characterization project to improve understanding of groundwater in the Terrace and surrounding area. As part of the project, they need to sample private water wells and are seeking volunteers.

Samples and water levels collected from private wells will allow the evaluation of groundwater quality and quantity.

The Regional District proposes to adopt Kitimat-Stikine Ticket Information Authorization Amendment Bylaw No. 647 at its September 12, 2014, Board meeting. This bylaw is intended to amend the current Kitimat-Stikine Ticket Information Authorization Bylaw No. 621, 2012 by allowing the Regional District to issue a Municipal Ticket Information (a Ticket) for identified violations under the following bylaws and adopt new or revised fines schedules for those bylaws...
