The Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine is in receipt of an application to rezone a parcel of land in Dease Lake, B.C. Rezoning is the common term used to describe the process to amend a zoning bylaw. The property subject to the rezoning application is Lot 3, of District Lot 2368, Plan 10334, Cassiar District, which is located on Tatcho Street.

A pilot Community Recycling Depot has been up and running since late November 2011 by the George Little House in Terrace. Materials accepted include mixed paper and cardboard products, metals, and mixed plastics. Organic (compostable) material such as yard waste and food scraps (no meat and oil) are also collected at the site.

A six month pilot project consisting of a pick-up service for large generators and a community drop-off depot starts up November 16. The depot will operate out of the U-Haul Yard in New Hazelton - a central location with good visibility just off Hwy 16 en route to Hazelton and the Kispiox Valley.
