Rural Property Tax applies to land outside cities, towns, district and village boundaries in British Columbia.  Rural property makes up 99.6% of British Columbia's land area.

The Regional District currently is managing three water systems and one sewer system.  The Thornhill Water Systems (covers lower and upper Thornhill), Terrace Rural Water System (North Terrace), South Hazelton Water System and Queensway/Churchill Drive, Sewer System.

This funding program is designed to support local initiatives that reduce or divert materials from landfill in an environmentally acceptable manner. Eligible recycling collection or depot services for residents and businesses will be paid up to $40/tonne for materials not covered under an industry stewardship program.
