  • Heritage Advisory Commission

Appointed by the Regional District Board, the Heritage Advisory Commission (HAC) advises and makes recommendations on heritage related matters. Comprised of volunteers, HAC members are interested in heritage and historical issues within their communities. Area representation includes:

    • Terrace area (and an alternate)
    • Kitimat area (and an alternate)
    • Hazelton area (and an alternate)
    • Stewart and Nass area (and an alternate)
    • Dease Lake, Iskut and Telegraph Creek area (and an alternate)
    • 3 members at large

A Heritage Conservation Service Bylaw (Bylaw 520, 2005) was created to support the Commission to focus on the creation of a Community Heritage Registry. The Commission decides which historical sites should be added to the Registry. Potential sites can be nominated by the public, Commission members or from the Regional District Heritage Values study.
