COVID-19 Info and Updates

On January 7, 2022, the Provincial Health Officer announced an order requiring employers to re-activate their COVID-19 Safety Plans. Please click here to view the RDKS COVID-19 Safety Plan.

In order to prevent and reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19, to protect the health and safety of our staff, our workplaces, and the public we serve, and to support the efforts of the Province of BC in the fight against the pandemic, the RDKS requires employees, volunteers who work alongside staff, contractors, and anyone entering RDKS facilities is to follow this Plan.

This Plan is a living document that will evolve based on direction and advice from the PHO, the Provincial Government and WorkSafeBC who, under Provincial legislation, are delegated the responsibility and authority to protect public health.

COVID-19 - Solid Waste Facilities

yes we're open image

There are no changes to solid waste facility hours or operations; however, we’ve got a few recommendations to ensure the safety off all facility users and staff:

  • Wear a mask when on site
  • Respect social distancing
  • Bag your garbage:
Please put all personal hygiene products, used tissues, sanitary wipes (even those labeled compostable or flushable), paper towels, napkins, cleaning cloths, face masks, gloves, and similar items in plastic bags. Double bag these items if you are sick or caring for someone who is sick.
  • Be patient, as service may take a bit longer respecting COVID-19 recommendations.

Visit our Solid Waste Facilities page for more information.
