Now more than ever, it is imperative that we work to support small and medium-sized businesses. Encouraging existing businesses to stay and grow is integral to thriving communities. The Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine has begun developing a Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) plan to support the prosperity of existing businesses throughout our region.

The purpose of the BRE Working Group is harness the local knowledge that is necessary for this plan to be successful. The group will be a work of collaboration, which builds on the strengths and expertise of all of its members.

The BRE Working Group will be made up of representatives from across the Regional District, with a primary focus on unincorporated communities. We are looking for the following:

  • Business Owners
  • Business Support Agencies
  • Advocacy Groups

Group members will be asked to provide input at two levels of the strategy development:

  1. Understanding the needs in your community and sector
  2. Providing advice on the deliverables of the strategy

This will involve 2-3 scheduled focus group meetings between August and December 2020, and some communication between meetings. This input will drive locally-focused initiatives, and is essential to the development of a well-rounded strategy.

To get involved, send your name and contact information to Maggie Hall, Economic Development Officer at: [email protected] or 250-615-6100.
